Be Still and Know

Love it? Share it!

Hello My Friends,

It is time for another Monday Musings of Grace. This one is particularly personal and pertinent in my own life right now. I hope it is of encouragement to you.

Be Still

One of my favorite verses is Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” I’ve often gravitated to this verse because of the first portion. Be still. It is my kryptonite. Being still is fairly impossible for me. I always feel unproductive or without purpose when I am still. So I have filled my home with reminders to Be Still.

This weekend was particularly heavy. Some days are just harder than others, aren’t they? And when that is the case I retreat to scripture. I was confused when God brought this verse to mind because I HAVE been still. I have trusted. I have waited. But this time, the second portion of the verse is what God was nudging me towards. KNOW.

“Know, that I AM God.”

Friends. God doesn’t just tell us to be still. He doesn’t only want us to wait on Him. He wants us to KNOW. To know that He IS God. To be assured that He is in control. That His Will will be done. To have peace in the knowledge that He will be honored in all the world. That whatever is occurring right now is not unknown to Him. It isn’t a surprise. And He hasn’t left us to fend for ourselves.

Cease Striving

Another version (NASB) of this verse says to Cease Striving. I love that version because it gives me such a visual picture. I can see myself striving, clawing, begging, willing myself to understand. And do you know what friends? Sometimes we just can’t. Sometimes the understanding won’t come this side of Heaven. But His assurance and peace comes in the understanding and knowledge that He is God. The Everlasting. The Creator. The Almighty. Our Stronghold. The Perfector of our Faith.

Incorporate scripture into your home decor with simple and beautiful signs for a modern farmhouse style.

Honestly, I didn’t plan to go here this week. My Monday musing was intended to be lighthearted. To share some funny happenings in daily life. But that’s not what’s on my heart. My heart hurts. And when it hurts, the best course of action is dwell in the knowledge and peace that He is God.

I hope that truth is a gentle reminder to you this week my friends,
