This week I’m chatting about kitchen design here This week I’m chatting about kitchen design here and on the blog! Our kitchen has seen a lot of transformation over 5 years. It started with me painting literally everything (cabinets, tile backsplash, cabinet hardware and pendant lighting) for about a $300 update. A year later we did a full gut (unplanned to do it that soon 🙃).
I tried to show the same angle, but it’s hard when the layout changed so much! See my last reel for my top 3 favorite design decisions I made!
.
Do you like seeing still photos? I realized it’s been a long time since I shared them, but they are my favorite over reels. I shot 📸 the kitchen last week for my blog post on how to choose timeless kitchen counters. It’s up on the blog now if you want to see more! www.graceinmyspace.com/blog

Did you think that’s what I’d love the most ab Did you think that’s what I’d love the most about our kitchen? Designing our kitchen from scratch in 2019 was a huge project. I made some mistakes (hello new island 3 years later) but these things I will never regret! Let’s chat about why:
1. Mixing antique and new cabinetry. While you can certainly have new cabinetry built to look like an older style, there is just something about the charm and history of a mixture. I bought this antique cabinet for $100, spent two weeks refinishing it, and now it serves as part of our pantry. To build new it would have cost $2,000 (at the time, probably more now!) There is something storied and nostalgic about it and I love that it has a century of dings and scratches that tell it’s story before it came to our home.
2. The original kitchen had one 22” window. It was extremely dark and was a huge missed opportunity to overlook our land. Looking out these windows gives me joy every day. 🤗
3. Corner drawers. These always garner a ton of questions. I chose these over a lazy Susan or other traditional corner cabinets because I’ve always been frustrated by lost items in those types of cabinets. The drawers are HUGE and hold all our bulky water bottles, large utensils and kid’s dishes. I love them. 🫶🏻

What are you cooking up tonight? How about a one-p What are you cooking up tonight? How about a one-pan recipe? These olive oil and spice-coated vegetables are roasted to perfection and paired with creamy feta cheese. Lemon, red onion and cherry tomatoes add even more tang to this delicious sheet pan baked feta with broccolini. Head to the blog for the full recipe!
INGREDIENTS
1 Bunch broccolini (ends trimmed), or broccoli (stalks cut close to florets)
1 Yellow bell pepper (thinly sliced)
1 Cup cherry tomatoes (halved or left whole)
½ Large red onion (sliced into thin crescents)
1 Lemon (½ cut into thin rounds for the sheet pan, and the remaining ½ for pressing juice)
5 Tbsp. olive oil (or more depending on preference)
1 Tsp. ground cumin
½ Tsp. red-pepper flakes
1 Tsp. Pink Himalayan salt
2 8 oz. blocks of feta

Did you know that low light doesn’t mean a plant Did you know that low light doesn’t mean a plant can survive in a dark room? 🪴 While there are lots of plants that do well with dark rooms, they actually are just slow to die. They aren’t really “doing well”. They just take longer to fail than other plants. So here’s a quick guide to demystifying your plant care label. Low light plants can handle north facing windows and high light plants do best with south or west facing windows. Some plants can handle direct light while most prefer indirect. But I like just trying them out! Most would tell me a fiddle needs more light than a north facing window offers, but mine loves it here! So if you only have low light spaces, give a snake plant, ZZ plant, pothos, Hoya or philodendron a try. And make sure to dust those leaves and rotate for even growth! #fromhousetohaven
