Fall Farmhouse Kitchen Decor in 5 Minutes
Now, let’s get to the easiest fall home decor you’ll ever tackle. As I’ve shared in almost every kitchen post I’ve ever written, the kitchen is the heart of the home but it’s also the work horse! That means that I don’t want it to be over complicated.
For that reason, my fall farmhouse kitchen decor always starts with a pile of pumpkins.
There is legitimately no easier fall decor than real pumpkins. I love the different varieties available. This year I even grew my own!
I attempted several varieties but the white ones were the only kind that survived me. Ha! At least they are white: those are my favorites!

The first and only step to adding real pumpkins to your kitchen is to wash them well. I’ve also applied a bleach solution to them to try to preserve them longer. The jury is out on whether or not that works, to be honest!
I tend to harvest or buy my pumpkins very early in the fall season so the length of time I get out of them varies. For the most part, they will last me the season to enjoy!
When I designed my kitchen, I fully planned to use my kitchen shelves for decor and also every day dishes. They are so easy to change up the decor for the seasons. This allows me to keep my countertops mostly free of clutter for an intentional workspace.
Fall Kitchen Shelf Decor
My kitchen shelf decor is where I always start with my fall decorating. I designed this kitchen corner shelf to be a unique accent in place of upper cupboards.
For 5 minute fall decor, I simply pile up the pumpkins! I’m telling you, it literally is THAT EASY.
In addition, I strategically pull out the same fall color palette I used in my fall living room. By adding a simple vintage painting with beautiful orange hues and brown crocks and bowls I am tying the two rooms together.
A Nod to Fall
In addition to the intentional fall design on my kitchen shelves, I also add very simple nods to fall scattered throughout the kitchen. A beautiful glazed pottery bowl of apples reminds me of our favorite times picking apples each fall season.
My favorite new apple recipe this year is my Salted Caramel Baked Apples. Oooo, they are so good!
Plus, I like that this serves as a reminder to my kiddos to grab a healthy snack!
It is so much easier to remember to eat healthy when the healthy foods are readily available. {Ahem….but let’s not forget those baked apples, mmmkay?}
The only other thing I do to top off the beauty is to add some fresh flowers! I have loads of hydrangeas that I bring in and dry. You can see the green ones displayed on my shelving.
We also grow sunflowers each year in our garden. This year I tried a variety pack and am loving all the beautiful fall colors. They play so nicely off our black farmhouse sink.
If you aren’t a gardener, fresh bouquets are so easy to come by in grocery stores, Trader Joe’s or even roadside stands in the fall. I love how bright and cheery they are!
Fall Kitchen Decor
I hope these simple tips give you ideas for how to decorate your kitchen for fall with simple intentionality. It’s amazing how over complicated we tend to make decor. Rather, the simple addition of specifically “fall feeling” pieces from nature, like real pumpkins, goes a long way.
