Laundry Room Decor and More | Week 2
Welcome to week 2 of the $100 Room Challenge! If you missed my announcement, I am making over my laundry room in one month for $100. This includes everything from walls and countertops to laundry room decor. Sound like a tall order? Keep reading!
Laundry Room Decor & More | Week 1
You can see my design board as well as my check list in my kick off post for week 1.
This week we took down the upper cabinet and hanging rod to open up the space. Next, this week’s update is all about paint! Ya’ll, I really dislike painting. Why does it have to be the number 1 way to update a space on a budget?! I’m telling you, if you have a budget of less than $100 for any room in your home, spend it on paint! It is one of the most transformative tools in design.

Laundry Room Decor | Paint Update
Lucky for me, I’m a paint hoarder! This week I checked a few items off my goal list and didn’t spend a dime. Thanks to past projects and my paint hoarder tendencies, I was able to update the entire laundry room with old paint.
First, I primed all the walls, cabinet and even the tile backsplash with the primer I used on my kitchen cabinets. (You can find the full tutorial on my kitchen renovation here.) Next, I painted the walls in the soft color Gatherings, which I had left over from the dated cabinet I painted {HERE} in my living room.
After the walls were done the space improved greatly. However the oak cabinet was still not my jam (do people still say that?). So I decided to pull out my 5 year old door paint I used after the house fire in our previous home (you can read the story of our house fire here). This is my favorite moody color called Urbane Bronze and it quickly modernized the space, even with the lovely blue floor tiles. ๐
And finally, I painted the ceramic tile backsplash with leftover Magnolia chalk paint from a project long ago! (You can see my tutorial on painting tile {here}.)
Three different areas of the laundry room, three different paints of varying ages, three different transformations! Even with the ugly blue floors, outdated countertop and dirty sink, the room is already looking better!

Updated Paint- Statement Wall
- Updated Countertop

- Floor Update
I was able to cross the most labor intensive item off the list this week! Well…labor intensive for me, at least. I’m pretty sure the hubby is going to have a grand old time installing the new sink and faucet in the coming weeks. ๐
This next week I hope to complete my statement wall and countertop! Stay tuned!
Your room is looking great! I can’t wait to see what you do this week.
Thank you Sherry! It was slow going this week but it will be up on Wednesday!
I’m can’t wait to to see how you are going to update your countertop on a budget.
Thank you! It is going to be an experiment. ๐
I’m all about painting that ceramic tile! What a difference paint makes! Love the progress!

Paint is a miracle worker!! Thank you so much!
Girl, I am with you…I HATE painting! But it does make such an impact. Love the way your space is looking.
Haha I’m glad I’m not alone!! At least it’s worth it.
Looking good! You’re are validating my paint hoarder tendencies with using that 5 year old paint – my husband wouldn’t be happy to hear that ๐ It will almost always come in handy at some point down the road, right?
I’m doing my laundry room for the challenge this month too – how fun to have a buddy! You’ve made much more progress so far than I have.
LOL! Paint hoarders unite! ๐ So fun to have a laundry room club! This challenge has been a lot of fun to push me to be more creative.
Iโm loving the black cabinets!! Big difference already!!!
Thank you Megan! It’s amazing what paint can do!
