Modern Farmhouse Fall Decor Ideas
Throughout this fall season, I’ve shared many fall decor tips for each room in my home. Today, I want to summarize the main concepts that I’ve implemented throughout my home to help you decorate your home for fall with a big picture in mind!
Cozy Color Scheme
The first step to creating a cohesive modern farmhouse design with fall decor is to decide on a color scheme. Repeating the same colors in many rooms ties your home together and helps it flow effortlessly.
My color scheme this year is brown, tan, green and pops of orange. My favorite color is green, so it is typically my strongest accent color no matter the season.
By adding in fall colors like brown and orange, it easily transitions the seasons without having to replace all my green accents with a new color.
In my bedroom, I simply added in brown accents with a new sign above my bed and layered on the cozy blankets for simple fall additions.

Fall Decor Statement Makers
Once you’ve decided on a cohesive color scheme, I always like to add in a couple of statement makers that pack a punch.
When your eye is drawn to a big statement, the rest of the fall decor can be quite simple.
My statement makers this fall are my DIY leaf wall in the entryway, and my wood bowl gallery wall.
Both of these very simple DIY decor ideas stand out in the room so that the rest of my modern farmhouse fall decor can be understated.
My wood bowl gallery wall is how I added lots of browns to my color palette in the living room. I love how it has become like an art piece!
Use Seasonal Decor Sparingly
My seasonal fall decor is very minimal this year. My tastes have changed over the years from craving piles and piles of pumpkins to sparingly adding a few here and there.
I love the simplicity, and since I created a couple of focal points with my statement makers, it feels quite adequate.

Add Natural Elements
My final tip for decorating with modern farmhouse fall decor is to add in nature. Leaves, pumpkins, mums, sticks, dried botanicals, and gourds are all extremely easy additions to your home.
Since I wanted to keep my home simplified indoors, I used this tip to deck out my front porch.
It instantly sets the tone for fall when guests arrive and are welcomed with the natural elements of fall.
I also made sure to carry my color scheme to the outdoors by only using small pops of soft orange pumpkins and not incorporating blue Jarrahdale pumpkins.

I hope that this post on how to create a cohesive modern farmhouse fall design throughout your home has been helpful! These same principles can be applied to most seasons.
Let’s break it down:
- Choose Your Color Scheme
- Add a Statement Maker (Or 2)
- Incorporate Intentional Seasonal Decor
- Add Natural Elements
