Woodland Christmas decor is so classic and iconic. I love adding little touches of this rustic Christmas decor to my home. Today I’m sharing how to add a simple woodland Christmas village display to your dining room!

Woodland Christmas Decor Ideas
Our dining room is the smallest common area in our home. But small spaces doesn’t have to mean minimal decor! So this year I challenged myself to create a Christmas village display that would be reminiscent of my childhood with a twist that fits our family.
We live surrounded by beautiful woods. Our kids adore going for walks in the woods and enjoying the forest. So, rather than create traditional Christmas village decorations, I created a woodland themed forest in our dining room.
Woodland Themed Christmas Village
I always loved the Christmas village my mom put up as a child. However, I don’t want to store all of those houses! So this is my own personal take on the idea. One that I hope my kids will remember and look forward to each year.
It is fun to create my own traditions for our family. Plus, this one is so incredibly easy.
- Layer books along your surface to create varying elevations.
- Add a white sheet, linens or linen napkins to create “snow”.
- Add bottle brush trees or other faux greens in groupings that mimic a forest.
- Sprinkle fake snow on top to create that magical dusting.
- Add stick bundles, candles, or other cozy elements.

I also chose to add a beautiful sign as my backdrop as the main reminder of why we celebrate this season. I always want my kids to focus on Christ as we enjoy the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season.
