Fall Front Porch: Let’s Sit Awhile
Hello Friends!
I spent some time this week fall-i-fying (yep..I’m sticking with it) my front porch! Fall decor is one of my favorite things to style! Because…Pumpkins! There is something so satisfying about stacking pumpkins and letting nature shine as decor.
Now let me start by saying that no one ever sees my front porch. Ha! I know. We live in the country so it is basically my family and the mail-lady who enjoy my fall front porch decor. But you know what? That’s ok with me. Sometimes you just have to do something you enjoy whether or not others see it. And I happen to enjoy a good pumpkin stack. So here we go!

Modern Farmhouse Fall Front Porch
In my last post, you saw that I have a new copper light fixture that warms up this space. Autumn makes me think of cozy sweaters, hot apple cider and brisk days at a pumpkin patch. So the warmth of copper just feels right for this season. But for some reason the weather has decided not to cooperate and we are sitting at 90 degrees today! Pure Michigan.
So this year, since my summer ferns are still gorgeous I decided to forego the traditional mums and keep the ferns alive as long as possible. And, truth be told, I’m just plain tired of watering plants! So I didn’t feel like buying new ones that I would most likely kill from dehydration. ๐
Pumpkins + Pumpkins + Pumpkins
Can you tell that I really like pumpkins? And not necessarily the traditional jack-o-lanterns (though we do get one for each kiddo to carve). Nope. I looove the weird shaped, odd color, bumpy and slightly ugly ones. What can I say? I’m a no-judgement pumpkin lover. Plus the neutral colors suit my tastes better than the bright orange pumpkins do.
And shall we talk about the white mini boo-boo pumpkins? Yes. Yes we shall. These are my favorite. Everything is cuter in mini form, right? Babies. Puppies. Desserts. (Wait. Nope, I’ll take a full size dessert please.) And yes, pumpkins. I love these little white beauties because you can stash them pretty much anywhere and they blend into already existing decor and feel so fresh.
Vintage Accents
Along with piles of pumpkins I also like to add vintage accents to my front porch decor. A galvanized bucket here, a wicker rocker there, and a chippy window layered in.
And of course, I’m unable to decorate anything without a sign. I know. I’m addicted to signs. I’m thinking I need to do a round up of all my signs and their sources for ya. It might be slightly embarrassing though. We shall see….
But this gorgeous Give Thanks sign is by my sweet friend Christine at Dandelion Wishes Home! She has the most gorgeous Etsy shop. I have a few of her signs and each time I’m amazed at the quality.
Add Something Unexpected or Homemade
But you know what I really like to do for my front porch? Add something odd. Like a tree stump. Or this random round wire thing that I don’t even know what it was for! Ha! I bought this at a barn sale and was told it is a vintage tire rim. But I’m just not so sure ya’ll. It’s pretty flimsy so if I was driving on these tires I don’t think it would make it out of the driveway. But you know what? It hangs nicely from my potting table and holds a few pumpkins and gourds for just a little something extra to look at.
And there you have it! A fall-i-fied modern farmhouse front porch. As you can see, my porch decor is not clean cut or modern. It’s definitely not new. 100% of the furniture was purchased from barn or yard sales or are hand-me-downs from my mom (thanks mom!). And the pumpkins were less than $10 for everything thanks to my fantabulous pumpkin lady. Front porch decor doesn’t need to be expensive. It just needs to fit your taste. ๐
So now I’m ready to sit a spell with a good cup o’ joe. Who wants to join me?
{I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.

Love your quote! I do agree! Love your porch and it’s simplicity. I don’t buy alot of pumpkins but do like to use signs. The one that hangs from hooks on my porch I made a few years back! It just says fall blessings! I just can’t not use it. Love to change things up each year but that has to hang! Enjoyed your blog. First time for me. Yes I’ll have a coffee on your porch! That would be awesome!
Thank you so much for stopping by! That sounds like a beautiful sign to welcome your guests with.
