Happy Monday Friends! And how I sincerely hope it is indeed a HAPPY Monday. 😉 For today’s Monday Musings of Grace I want to talk about taking a step back and allowing yourself to Just Breathe.

Are You Suffocating?

Do you ever get to a point in life where you realize that you’ve forgotten how to breathe? No? Well maybe not physically, but have you experienced moments of suffocation emotionally, spiritually, or mentally? I have to be honest, I don’t usually get to that point. God is my refuge and strength and He sustains me through stress, loss and heartache. However, recently I was discovering that I have forgotten how to breathe. Do you find yourself constantly spinning over a stressful situation? Today I want to talk about taking a step back and allowing yourself to Just Breathe. We all have daily stressors but there are those times when the stress seems to be suffocating. That is where I was the last few weeks. So much turmoil and heartache to process. Prayer always helps and being in God’s Word is imperative; however sometimes we also just need to allow ourselves to come up for air.

Just Breathe

So I have chosen to do that. I’m taking a step back and I’m breathing. Rest is important and God gives us permission to rest. More importantly, He tells us to rest In Him. So today I want to encourage you to do a few things if you are at the point of suffocation.

  1. Pray and receive God’s promised peace.
  2. Dive into His Word because it is a balm to a weary soul.
  3. Just Breathe.

Take a moment, remember who is God, and rest in the assurance that He’s got this. God is our rock. He is immovable, unchangeable, never failing, and all knowing. He is our refuge and can be our strength if we let Him. But we have to let Him. The weight can be taken off your chest if you step back from the situation and let God take the lead. Often times being a follower of Christ means just that: be a follower. You don’t have to take the reigns because God has said, “Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Rest in Christ

I’ll leave you with a few verses that I’ve clung to year after year. But I’ll also leave you an addition to the list above. 4. Talk to someone and seek Godly counsel. I was just talking to a dear friend yesterday who is struggling through the same situation as me and she was the one who told me to rest. She advised me to take some time and let go of the situation long enough to get my bearings again. So if this Monday Musing speaks to you then you can thank my dear friend, because I’m just taking her advice. 🙂 Here are some of my favorite verses in times of struggle. Please comment below and leave me a verse that speaks to you personally so we can encourage each other. Be blessed today friends, Sarah Signature
