Simple Summer Decorations Home Tour
Summer is my absolute favorite season. The Michigan winter takes a toll on me and by the time summer arrives I’m ready to soak in the outdoors. That means that I want my summer decorations to be effortless!
So, I’m excited to be joining 38 other amazing bloggers to share our summer homes with you for the Seasonal Simplicity home tour hosted by Krista at The Happy Housie. If you’re joining me from Sarah at All Things With Purpose, thank you for hopping over!
Today, I’ll be sharing three effortless summer decoration ideas that can be used in any home.

Simple Summer Decorations
My living room is the most used room in our home. It is the perfect example of how you can use three simple elements in your summer decorations without breaking the bank or spending hours redecorating. So, today I’ll be focusing on my entryway and living room, which flow one into the other.
You can see how my living room has evolved over the past year in these posts geared towards specific interior design styles.
Carry A Pop of Color Throughout Your Home
I’m obviously a neutral loving gal, as you can see from the first impression in my entryway. However, summer calls for a pop of color. The easiest way to make your summer decorations feel cohesive is to carry one or two colors throughout your home.
The color I’ve woven into my home for summer is a soft peachy pink. It is the first color on my front door wreaths that guests see when they arrive, and it is immediately carried into the living room adjoining the entryway.
My home color scheme is basically on repeat in every room this summer: white, wood/cognac, green, black, and a pop of pink. I love keeping my color palette neutral so it is easy to swap out a new color for the season.
I’ve chosen to add this soft pink to my florals, pillows, artwork, and even specifically on the rim of a pretty potted plant. It really only takes a touch of color here and there to make it feel cohesive.
Lighten Up Your Decor Accents
My second tip for effortless summer decorations is to lighten up your home decor accents. In the winter, my decor is heavily layered. There is just something about layering that makes a space feel cozy in the cold months. Conversely, for summer I want my home to feel fresh and light.
The simplicity of a simple vase of flowers makes a statement all on its own. Plus, when it is one of your pops of color it helps draw your eye to it and becomes and instant focal point.
By removing and storing some of you decor you can open up your space and help your room breath again. This is also a budget friendly mentality. Rather than seeking to add summer decorations, see what you can take away.
Add Live Plants
Let me begin tip three with a caveat. Not everyone has the time necessary to care for live plants. I’ve discovered the joy of incorporating live plants into my home over the last two years and have found plants that are extremely easy to care for.
I’ve even given some of my best tips for growing indoor plants {here}, however, this is still something you need to be prepared for! So, if you’re ready to take on the challenge, it really is as simple as adding a few statement plants to your summer decorations!
I have a fiddle leaf fig and bird’s nest fern in my living room, while my entryway houses an unkillable money tree. I swear that beauty will live through anything. I once forgot to water it for over a month when we were renovating and it was shoved into a closet. She came out green and happy as ever. Now if only it would actually produce money… ๐
