Why Refreshing Your Kitchen for Spring Makes the Biggest Impact
In most homes, the kitchen is a central gathering place for everyday activities, as well as entertaining! We spend a large majority of our lives in the kitchen and living room, so why not focus intentionally on those two spaces for the biggest impact?
Thankfully, it is as easy as 1, 2-15.
How do you decorate a small kitchen for spring?
Before I dive into 15 specific spring kitchen decorating ideas, let me give you the most bang for your buck in a small kitchen.
A single bouquet of seasonal flowers.

Obviously this applies to large kitchens as well. But spring decorating in small kitchens needs to be compact, with a big impact!
Add a touch of spring to your kitchen with a bouquet:
- Cut straight from your yard as daffodils, hellebores, tulips, forsythia, crocuses or hyacinths pop up first in the spring.
- Grab a bunch of fresh flowers from the grocery store or local florist for a beautiful arrangement.
- If real flowers aren’t for you, you can never go wrong with these faux flowers that are ultra realistic. I have them all over my home!
How early should you decorate for spring?
Personally, March 1 all bets are off and I’m 100% ready to decorate for spring.
Many climates are already experiencing spring weather by then.
While I don’t typically see spring arrive outside until closer to April in the midwest, I think it’s completely justifiable to bring some life into our homes after the long winter months as early as we want to.
15 Spring Kitchen Decorating Ideas to Refresh Your Home
Declutter for an Instant Refresh
The number one way to instantly refresh your kitchen for spring is to declutter and deep clean.
It’s always amazing to me how quickly my kitchen’s appearance improves with a deep clean. And I enjoy being in it so much more when it is organized and decluttered.
Here are my favorite cleaning products specific to the kitchen.
- Non toxic, essential oil based kitchen cleaner. It smells divine. (Use code GRACEINMYSPACE20 for 20% off.)
- Window cleaning cloths. These don’t use any sprays. Just water and a wipe on/wipe off method.
- Electric scrubber. This is the handheld version of the long wand scrubber I use for my tub and shower. It’s perfect for stubborn sink stains or the tracks in a window or sliding door.
- Spray Mop. I tested this product on a recent trip with Lowe’s and LOVED it. No electrical cords. The spray is built into the mop. And you just wash the pad when you’re done!
Swap in Fresh Spring Kitchen Florals

Florals are synonymous with spring kitchen decorating. Or, any spring decorating for that matter!
I have shared all 30+ spring faux flowers I use in my home in this post. However, if I had to narrow it down to my top three favorites I would recommend:
- These real touch tulips in your favorite color. In my kitchen, I style them on my open shelving.
- These wild moss stems. I style these in a low bowl for an easy centerpiece.
- These lilac stems. (Stems shown above are sourced from Amazon but are often low stock. So I linked the same stems from another source for you!)
Lighten Up with Floral or Pastel Linens
Linens are so easy to add to your kitchen with the everyday towels and dish cloths. I rounded up some of my favorite spring towels for you! So many pretty patterns. Use code GRACEINMYSPACE at checkout.
But, you can also display beautiful napkins or table cloths on open shelving for some texture and pattern, if you have the space for it! Why tuck these beautiful linens away in a drawer when they can serve as decor.
These European linen table cloths are an excellent value. I have multiple colors and patterns.
Style Open Shelving with Seasonal Touches
We have a small seating area off of our kitchen, so I like to add a mixture of living room and kitchen decor to the arched shelving. I used a combination of thrifted finds, antiques and some new items in this space.
My collection of antique mortar and pestles weaves the kitchen theme into this side of the room. I mixed them with a $2 thrifted tile with spring florals, a thrifted blue bowl with a fun pattern, and some vibrant greenery.

For a fun little nod to spring, I added this petite brass sparrow to my touch lamp. When placed on top, it looks like it was made as one piece!
Add Natural Wood and Woven Textures

I like to add natural texture with baskets for spring kitchen decorating.
Wood bowls are another great piece of decor that is very easy to thrift or antique! For spring, I like lighter tones that lean more grey or beige.
Create a Simple Spring Centerpiece

The easiest spring centerpiece is created using multiples of one flower.
For those of us (raising my hand) that aren’t very good at flower arranging, this is an easy way to bring in the beauty of flowers without a lot of skill required.
I like to add a small centerpiece in this beautiful petite vase for a fun pop of pattern. The small opening is the perfect shape and size to hold stems upright and well kept.
Update Your Kitchen Counter Styling for Spring
There are so many ways to decorate a kitchen counter.
My personal style tends to learn more towards making something that needs to be out on the counter aesthetically pleasing. That way, I’m not adding more to the counter that isn’t going to be used on a daily basis.

For me, this looks like:
- A pretty bowl to hold fresh fruit we eat daily.
- A marble tray to corral salts and a beautiful spoon rest.
- A decorative crock to hold my kitchen utensils.
- Wood, or nice looking, utensils that are out of a drawer and easy to grab.
Incorporate Vintage or Thrifted Finds
Personally, I like a mix of old and new throughout my entire home.

So in the kitchen, I use mortar and pestles for my old and mix in new plants and cookbooks.
Sometimes, all it takes is rearranging what you already own. I also use an antique crock to hold my kitchen utensils I use daily.
Bring in Fresh Herbs for Beauty + Function

Adding fresh herbs to your spring kitchen decorations can serve multiple purposes.
- Create a window sill garden to grow fresh herbs for cooking, and decor.
- Create an herb drying rack that is functional and beautiful.
- Simply place dried herbs or florals, like I’ve done with my harvested lavender, out for a subtle scent.
Switch Out Artwork for Spring Prints

Most kitchens don’t hold a lot of art. However, adding one seasonal piece of art where it fits best in your home is a fun way to create a lived-in atmosphere in your kitchen.
I love using vintage or antique oil paintings. But there are so many beautiful art pieces to be found new as well!

Refresh Bar Stools with Light Cushions
If your barstools have removable cushions, spring is a great time to give them a refresh!
Sometimes a good wash is all they need. Other times, it’s fun to brighten them up with a new look or fun pattern like these.

Add A Washable Rug or Runner to Your Spring Kitchen
If there is ever a place that a washable rug is a must, it’s the kitchen.
I like this all in one system because it lays flat, is thick, and doesn’t get sucked up by the vacuum. You can use code GRACEINMYSPACE15 at checkout!

Elevate the Senses With a Spring-Scented Element
Scent plays a huge roll in how your kitchen feels.
There are so many ways to bring scent into the home.
- Make your own simmer pot with this simple recipe.
- Add a soy candle.
- Diffuse essential oils.
- Display a pretty reed diffuser. This English rose scent is the perfect floral note for spring.
Layer in Soft Greenery

My favorite greenery for spring is vibrant and fresh. I like to leave the more muted greens for the cooler months. You can see all of the greenery I use for spring here.
In addition, the more live plants I can bring in the better! If you’re new to indoor plants, try out these very beginner friendly options:
- Rubber tree
- Pothos
- Philodendron
- Snake plant
- Hoya
Keep It Simple and Cohesive With the Rest of Your Home

I use the same decorating method in my kitchen as I do in the rest of my home.
- Keep a cohesive color scheme (for me, that is neutrals, taupe, brown, blue, green and shades of pink)
- Add a mix of old and new
- Use statement florals to keep it simple
- Anything that is displayed functionally should also be beautiful
- Quality over quantity, every time.
How to Decorate a Kitchen for Spring on a Budget
The easiest way to decorate on a budget is to do a thorough deep clean, shop your own home to rethink how you can use items you already own, and add in some seasonal florals!

Honestly, we overcomplicate decorating. And in a kitchen especially, we want the decor to be minimal and the functionality to be the priority.
Think about how you are layering what you have to tell a story throughout the space.
Add in something old, unique or nostalgic as an easy conversation starter. And focus your efforts on keeping the room clean, tidy and family friendly.
