Weโ€™re building! ๐Ÿฅณ After our major home remode Weโ€™re building! ๐Ÿฅณ After our major home remodel got us back to a basic builder grade status I knew I wanted to take my time and add custom finishes myself. I started by adding the custom coffee station last month and this month Iโ€™m tackling the laundry room.

When we remodeled we didnโ€™t have much square footage to work with. So it made the most sense to create a bathroom/laundry combo. What that left me with was a plain washer and dryer and zero storage or functionality. So Iโ€™m making my own!

This is just part one of the project so tune in to stories for the real details and catch up in my laundry room highlight.

Whatโ€™s your favorite feature of your laundry room? Maybe I can incorporate it into mine. ๐Ÿ˜

A homeโ€™s story is always fun to share. How we we A homeโ€™s story is always fun to share. How we went from a mouse infested 1970s colonial to a modern cottage kitchen (with some transitional elements thrown in) is a good story.

We bought the house knowing it would be a full gut remodel. Weโ€™d been remodeling homes slowly while living in them for 13 years and we knew that for this house, we didnโ€™t want to go the slow route. Our kids are teens now and we donโ€™t have weekends to peck away at projects like we once did. We wanted their last few years at home to be lived in a completed house that we could all just enjoy together.

So we hired out the majority of the work to get the main remodeling done quickly. It took a year and a half to completely rebuild (quite literally) the main floor, basement and a new living room addition.

Now, I can peck away at smaller projects that I knew I could complete and not disrupt the family too much. We still have plenty to do!

Iโ€™m currently planning a laundry room build that is going to transform the blank canvas we created when we built the space last year. I canโ€™t wait! Check in on stories today for the plans!

Have you ever remodeled a kitchen before?
First, what are you planting this year? ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŒพ More chat about that below.

Second, I asked you which faux flowers to keep and 99.9% of you said ALL OF THEM. ๐Ÿ˜† It has been quite a few years since Iโ€™ve bought anything new so I decided you were right. And here we are.

I usually suggest buying one new bouquet a year to keep things budget friendly. My tulips I bought almost 10 years ago and Iโ€™ve added a bundle each year. My hydrangeas Iโ€™ve had for 4 years. The greenery is going on 5 years. It is possible to build over time when you buy a good quality that will look new year after year.

But really, I just canโ€™t wait to be picking real flowers from my garden. ๐Ÿคฉ What are you planting this year? I will be focusing on perennials because the front of our house has zero landscaping.

Iโ€™m definitely adding:
- hydrangeas
- boxwood
- lambs ear
- Russian sage

But am open to suggestions for additions! Iโ€™m in zone 6a. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

This is what I know. Iโ€™ve spent 14 years of tria This is what I know. Iโ€™ve spent 14 years of trial and error to create a home I love. If Iโ€™d never started because of fear of failure or overwhelm, Iโ€™d still be in the same place as I was 14 years ago.

Sure, mistakes were made. But that is how you learn. So make THAT the goal. Not the perfect house. But the knowledge to make it the perfect house for you.

A huge thanks to @loweshomeimprovement for sponsoring this coffee bar build! I canโ€™t believe it took me 9 years to try a Kreg pocket hole jig. If I would have known how magical they are I would have learned it years ago! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

If youโ€™re new to DIYing, hereโ€™s where I would start.
- learn how to use a miter saw. Intimidating, yes. But SO useful for hundreds of home improvement projects.
- next, learn a jig saw and circular saw. Itโ€™s always the saws that people are scared of. But you can do a LOT with these three saws before you ever need to try a table saw.
- master the art of caulk and paint. Caulk and paint will fix a lot of mistakes of rookie carpenters.
- learn how to sand and prep properly. Both for staining and painting. These prep steps are more impactful than finish steps in many cases.

If you want to learn all these skills head to the DIY section of my blog for dozens of free tutorials. And if you are ready to buy those first power tools, head to Loweโ€™s. My storefront is linked in my bio! #affiliatelink #lowespartner
