I showed you the process of how our front porch came together for Christmas, and now I want to slow it down and show you the final product! Comment PORCH to have the decor sources sent directly to your DMs! I kept it very classic this year. Beautiful greenery to accent an (appropriately "Christmas" red) front door. And an elegant door mat from @porteandhall (partner) to welcome guests with style. I love how the Outsider mat has a beautiful wood-look border with removable insert for easy cleaning. It is easily the most classy front door mat I've ever had. Since our doorway is brick, I used the tension shower rod hack that's going viral to hold my garland and it worked like a charm. It is simple, classic, and will ease into winter without needing to take anything down. What do you think of how it turned out?

#ad I went into my local @loweshomeimprovement to take advantage of their Black Friday Every Day deals! I was able to save on a couple of items I’ve been needing during this renovation. A new Craftsman tool box and this adjustable Little Giant Ladder is my Christmas gift to myself. They are making it easy to decorate our new front porch for the holiday season!
I snagged some new white LED lights to string along the railing, along with a timer to make life easier. Since our exterior is brick, I’m using a tension shower curtain rod to drape my garland.
And, I’m finishing it off with a live Norfolk pine that is on in-store special along with these beautiful poinsettias.

Mom and I decorated her white and silver tree today. She said the key to this tree is that you just have to keep adding. Once it feels a little full, find a bare spot and add some more. I think she was right. ☺️ Thanks mom for giving me some Christmas cheer today in the absence of being able to decorate my own tree this year! ❤️❤️ #fromhousetohaven

With the colder months upon us I am teaming up wit

With the colder months upon us I am teaming up with @consumersenergy to share some simple tips for conserving energy that you can do in just one day! Moving into an older home, we are making huge strides in saving energy by doing things like adding insulation during the renovation. However, you don’t have to be completing a huge remodel to make an impact in saving yourself money by conserving energy. Tackle these simple tips today:
- Replace old bulbs with LEDs. LEDs have come a long way and you can now find lots of variations from soft white to daylight. I prefer 3,000-5,000K for a brighter daylight look.
- Add blinds to keep heat within: Not only do blinds and drapes provide you with privacy and a beautiful aesthetic, but they can also help with heat loss. Use an insulated backing to help with drafts.
- Move your furniture off the wall: Walk around the house and pull any furniture away from the walls where it is covering heat ducts. Check your floor length drapes as well to ensure you aren’t covering a heat source.
- Add a rug for more insulation: I love an area rug to create a visual zone in a room, but they also serve to help with floor insulation. Put down a rug pad for extra cushion and bonus insulation too!
