Girls Bedroom Before

If you missed the first post in this series, you can learn all about how I updated the walls in this girls bedroom design {HERE}. Let’s start from scratch and show you the blank canvas I started with when we first moved in.

The room is quite large for a bedroom but it has some quirks with odd angles, a protruding laundry shoot, and an existing chair rail. You can see how the bedroom sat for 7 months {HERE}, and why it needed some structure!

Girls Bedroom Design Plan

After I updated the walls, I wanted to create a focal point to work around for the rest of the space. The existing bed we had didn’t provide any structure because the headboard was a vintage find that was too small for the full size mattress.

The Bed

To fix that problem I chose this beautiful Robyn Slat Bed that has a vintage feel but is 100% sturdy so I no longer had to be concerned about a floppy headboard. 😉 I love how the metal frame is durable for a rambunctious kiddo but stylish enough to grow with her through the years.

This beautiful bedding is from Beddy’s Beds. You can learn all about them {here}.

The Nightstand

Next, I added the Kalani three drawer chest to provide much needed storage for my bookworm. Her previous nightstand was originally purchased because her prior room was teeny tiny and we needed one to fit the space. However, with an increase in room size I wanted to make her nightstand more substantial to add function and style.

The Rug

To finish off the space, I gave my daughter the option of 3 area rugs. I love to use rugs to create zones and ground a space. Plus, her cold wood floors needed some cozying! She chose this Pink Geometric Rug, which I think is such a fun reflection of her personality!

I love how the golds in the rug play off her polka dot bedding and vintage chair. She loves how playful and girly it is!

The Accents

For the rest of my girls bedroom update I shopped my own house! I added some plants, both faux and real, because she loves to care for things. She’s been asking for her own “plant baby” for some time so I’m hoping my money tree will survive her learning curve. 😉  See more about my favorite easy-care indoor plants {HERE}.

Then, I simply put a fresh coat of paint on her thrift store dresser, styled her bedding, and hung our existing decor back on the walls!

I’m so happy with how my girls bedroom decor plan played out! Between the amazing wallpaper and the beautiful and functional furniture from Joss & Main, it’s a whole new room!

It makes my heart happy every time she walks into her room and thanks me again for making it special for her. Totally worth the effort.

I hope that my girls bedroom makeover inspires you as well! Let me know what you think of the updates! And as always, if you’re looking for daily inspiration make sure to follow me on Instagram and Pinterest for more ideas!
