Guest Bathroom Makeover Ideas
Hello my friends! It’s been a long time coming but our guest bathroom makeover is finally complete! For months I lived with a half tan bathroom that was painted with 5 square blocks of paint samples. To say that it bothered me would be a lie.
Honestly, I was so consumed with allllll the other renovations we did to our new home in the first six months that I didn’t even care that our bathroom was 6 different colors. However, it was finally time to finish up the guest bathroom makeover and I love how it turned out!

Guest Bathroom Makeover Ideas
Now for what you’re waiting for! The guest bathroom makeover. My number one goal for this room was to keep it simple while simultaneously making a statement. I did that with beautiful wallpaper and simple decor!
Before
Let’s take a look at the before. The guest bathroom has a nice layout with quality cabinets and a granite countertop. It isn’t my specific style, but the quality was there so I chose to keep the makeover limited to changing the color scheme and decor rather than a full remodel of the guts of the bathroom.
After
The first step was to choose how I wanted to make a statement in this space. I went with this beautiful peel and stick wallpaper from Wallpops called Folk Tulip. You can see my full review of the product, plus an installation video tutorial in my post on my daughter’s bedroom makeover {HERE}. Suffice to say, if I chose to use this product again, then I LOVE it! It is so easy to use, is a wonderful quality product, and makes a statement with ease.
Design Tip 1: Make A Statement
I decided to do two walls of wallpaper rather than wrap it fully around the room because of the bold pattern. This allowed me to choose a moody charcoal grey for the smaller spaces so they weren’t overwhelmed. This beautiful paint color also plays nicely against the grey in the wallpaper tulips.
Design Tip 2: Choose Simple Accents
After the walls were done I wanted to use very little decor so it didn’t compete with the wallpaper. I chose this large enamel clock for a couple of reasons. First, it is simple enough to hang on top of the bold wallpaper without getting lost in the design. Second, it complements this adorable Wash Your Hands sign since they both have that “old time” feel.
Design Tip 3: Add Plants
Since I wanted my guest bathroom makeover to remain functional, I chose to use live and faux plants as accents so as not to clutter the space. These faux tulips are my absolute favorite. Even in real life, you’d never know they aren’t real!
Want to know a little secret? If you add water to your faux stems it gives the illusion that they are real! Tricky tricky. ๐
I also found this beautiful wax plant at our local grocery and couldn’t pass it up. I love how live plants bring life into a space. Even a space as utilitarian as a bathroom. If you are looking for some easy care plants, I’ve rounded up my favorite “unkillable” plants for you {HERE}.
Design Tip 4: Reuse Existing Accents
The final update I made to the guest bathroom was to the mirrors. Originally, I intended to buy new mirrors, however, I quickly realized I had better things to spend my money on. So….paint for the win! The original mirrors are more plain than I dreamed of but their clean lines work well to tone down the wallpaper pattern. After painting them with leftover door paint (in Urbane Bronze) they work well with the color scheme of the guest bathroom.
Guest Bathroom Makeover: The Final Reveal
I’m loving how this guest bathroom turned out. After painting the majority of our home white, it is a welcome change to create a more moody and interesting space in our home. Here’s one final before and after. I can hardly believe it is the same bathroom vanity!
Ahhh, it feels good to check this makeover off my list! Now our guest bathroom is no longer embarrassing when we have friends and family over. Though, to their credit, they’ve never uttered a word about my 6 colored walls. ๐
I hope this guest bathroom makeover has given you some ideas for your own bathroom makeover! Stay tuned for my next remodel reveal: the mudroom!
