Fall Decor in the Kitchen

One space that I haven’t yet shown this season is my kitchen! I remodeled our kitchen on a budget {see the full remodel here} last spring and since then it hasn’t changed much. Except for our open shelving!

This is the only space in our kitchen that I change out decor because I like to keep it as simple as possible in this workspace.

You can find the full tutorial on how I made these DIY open shelves {here}.

My fall decor ideas for the kitchen are so simple that I’m not 100% sure they qualify as ideas. 😉 I simply incorporate warm colors with an orange pot and wooden accents and then sprinkle pumpkins among the dishes.

As you know, stacking pumpkins is one of my skill sets, so of course I’ve added a few pretty neutral pumpkins in as well. And that’s it! Already incorporating wood tones and rich textures into my kitchen design allows me to use less decor to style it with each season.

Fall Decor Ideas | A Simple Tablescape

Next up, I’m sharing another idea for a fall dining room! You already saw how I styled my dining room for fall two different ways in {this post}. Now, I’m showing you a different option for a simple fall tablescape.

I really don’t spend a lot of personal time creating tablescapes for fancy dinners. I rarely host a party that requires a sit down meal, but when I do I like to keep it simple! Last year I showed you three ways to style a tablescape for Thanksgiving and I think that I’m adding this one to the list of options!

I didn’t want to spend any additional money to create this year’s tablescape so I started to think outside of the box. First, I used a scarf to create a layered runner.

Next, I got out my grandmother’s silver because it is a special touch and makes it feel more elegant. Then, I simply used our everyday plates in layers and added some wood salad bowls to warm up the space.

And yep, you guessed it, I piled on the pumpkins. It really is the easiest way to create a fall tablescape. I mixed in dried hydrangeas from my yard, but you can easily add other accents like candles, fall leaves, printed napkins, or a fall garland to add interest.

Fall Decor Ideas | Buffet Styling

After the tablescape was finished I decided to try one more styling option for the buffet. It was already torn apart from trying it a few different ways so I combined a few different options for another simple way to add fall decor to your dining room.

If you only decide to purchase one type of decor for fall, I’d recommend real pumpkins. Faux pumpkins sprinkled in are great accents, however, real pumpkins add so much character.

Plus, they are the simplest option for those who don’t want to fuss with styling a space!

  3. I am new to your blog but I really do enjoy! I have a light wood trim in most of my home.( Late 40’s ranch. )i have painted kit and living room window frames , doors and frames in those two rooms. I have never been thrilled with the rest of wood trim. Two things stop me tho. #1 my husband is old school, you never paint wood, and I know the job wood be a big one. One of these days I wish it could just be done. I love the sharpness of the painted wood trim. I do stare at pics that have it. Thanks for sharing and congrats on book!

  4. Sarah,
Just love all of your decorating!!! I love the kitchen; so welcoming. where did you get your 2 flower planters hanging in the kitchen? I love those. Sarah, I just love your blog site. You are such a wonderful woman. Your heart is in everything you write for us and your home inspirations inspire us . I have the items to decorate with for my dining room; it’s just putting it all together. I love crockery like you used in your dining room with my favorite flower hydrangea and I have a few other items I could use but getting there is my problem. Do you have any suggestions?
